Policies for a Safe School Year
Our 2021-2022 school year was a successful one, as we were able to stay open for the children from September through May without closing a single day due to COVID-19! Amazing Scholar Academy Preschool will again open according to our usual schedule for the 2022-2023 school term. Safety is our primary concern. Our emphasis is on reopening safely while delivering a quality education experience.
There are many safeguards in place to protect our students and teachers. These guidelines may change with the evolving nature of the pandemic. Please know that all plans are flexible and will be altered accordingly to keep our preschool environment safe. To continually protect our students and staff, there will be updates as new health-related information is released.
Policies Effective for 2022-2023 Term
As we enter another year challenged by COVID-19 and other viruses — as of now — masks will be optional As the school year proceeds, the mask policy could change. We will be taking all the necessary precautions to keep our children and families safe.
Please review and be consistent with hygiene fundamentals at home so that your child is comfortable at school with such measures — frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer, etc.
Our preschool will be cleaned before and after class and at times between classes.
Our teachers will welcome our students at the door. No adults will be permitted into school. This policy may change as this school year continues.
There will be no snack time at preschool. In addition, birthdays will be celebrated with trinkets or individually-wrapped treats provided by the parents for the birthday child to hand out to classmates.
We will take the children to the bathroom in small groups. Our bathrooms are equipped with motion-sensitive lights and soap dispensers to minimize the need to touch surfaces.
The children will be in small groups for classes and activities. These groups will change weekly.
Whenever possible and weather-permitting, gym classes and other activities will rotate among our outdoor playground, outdoor courtyard, and indoor Fellowship Hall. The areas better allow for social distancing.
All children need to have a backpack. We recommend a big enough backpack to hold a change of clothes and room for the teachers to place paperwork or other items inside to come home to you. Please check you child’s backpack regularly for such items.
The children will not share crayons, scissors, glue, pencils, markers or many other items.
In the event that a child or family member comes into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the child will need to stay out of preschool to quarantine, and the preschool needs to be notified immediately. This is a strict ASAP policy! These rules apply to our teachers, as well. We have many students with medical issues and many who will not be wearing masks. Our children all have the right to be happy and healthy and to enjoy preschool as a normal, fun experience.
ASAP is taking these safety measures so the children can have the opportunity to enjoy making friends and receiving the education that is necessary to help them grow into their personalities. We appreciate the support and cooperation of parents and other family members.
